For our first show of the semester, I think we did fairly well. I think the story could have been presented a little clearer, but that couldn’t be helped unless we extended the acting. In short, practices seemed rushed and we were more focused on getting it done than making sure it was clean and ready for the show. However, we did have tryouts and an exclusive workshop with Joseph Nontanovan, current Artistic Director for Culture Shock San Diego (check out his work here!) before this show. Sure, no excuses should be acceptable, but just saying!
Here is more than half of our performance. Mine came out unfocused so this is the best I could find on Youtube so far:
Alumni Step Show 2011 | Songs: “Bootywurk” by T-Pain, “Pay Me” by Usher, “The Numbers Won” by Wale, “Quickie” by Miguel, “One Night Stand” by Chris Brown, “Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay” by Big Sean ft. Kanye West, “Who Run the World (Girls)” by Beyonce, “More Than a Woman” by Aaliyah, “Moves Like Jagger” by Maroon 5 ft. Christina Aguilera | Choreographers: Demetirus White, Cina McKenna, Manny Freeman, Jia Zheng, Kathy Lopes | Performer: Urbanknowlogy 101
Overall, I think that “Quickie” turned out well and we had a smart color scheme. No shame in saying we could have had more energy and cleaner formations. Though, we came back strong, loud and proud in red at Mason Madness this past Friday. Recapping it soon!
